SOLUTION
Yes, choose a bigger size when you download: Download → PNG → 2× or 3×. That draws everything, text included, at two or three times the pixels.
Also check the picture isn't a screenshot of text: real text layers stay sharp at any size. PDFs default to 2× for printing.
