How do I crop a picture without cropping the whole page?

SOLUTION
Select the picture first, then press C (or click Crop in the bar above the page). Crop then cuts only that picture: drag its handles or pick 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 or 9:16, and click outside it or press Enter to apply.
With nothing selected, Crop works on the page instead (and applies to every page).
